I have been given many opportunities to challenge myself with my academic choices. At the end of my seventh grade year I was given the opportunity to join the STAR Academy at Berkeley High School to complete my eighth and ninth grade years in one. The environment was fast paced and very challenging. The next year I was allowed to stay at Berkeley High School as a sophomore instead of going back to my home school. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to Berkeley Middle College High School which would allow me to take dual credits through Trident Technical College. Again, I was up for another challenge because I knew that another opportunity presented itself and I had to try. I think a normal teenager as myself would have wanted to stay with my friends and go through high school with them. However, I needed to do what was best for me.
As you can see I love a rewarding challenge. In the near future I would like to attend a four year college where I can major in Nursing and be able to play soccer. Being able to study Nursing and play soccer would give me the experience of being able to deal with life stressors, working in a team environment, and becoming more educated for my future career. Becoming a Nurse would make me feel like I am helping others whether it is joking with them to make them smile even though they are not feeling well or helping them feel comfortable during their last days on earth. I would also like to continue playing soccer if I can whether it is being a coach for a Little League or become the next Hope Solo.
