My name is Kaitlyn Hostetter. I am 15 years old and attend Wando High School, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and play for the soccer team there. I was originally born in Las Vegas, Nevada and was quickly given the nickname of “Vegas” from my new teammates when I moved to South Carolina in 2020. In addition, I started playing soccer at four years old, while living in California at the time. I quickly fell in love with a sport that fascinates me. My dad is active duty in the United States Air Force, which has meant a few moves for my family. This has not hindered my determination to be the best player I can be and to continue advancing with a new team. I find myself equally as flexible, reliable, and dependable as not only a player on the field, but also in my studies at school. I am in all honors classes, earning straight A’s and my dedication to school can be matched on the soccer field. My position as a defender on my club team here in South Carolina has given me the confidence to be a better leader; a stronger athlete and a quick thinker. I am often told that I always have a smile on my face that radiates with happiness. As with any sport, soccer does come with a mix of emotions. With my positive attitude, I take pride in knowing outcomes become learning abilities and I try my best to uplift my teammates with this knowledge. At my age, I have so much of life ahead of me and the dream of playing soccer in college will hopefully become a reality one day.
