My name is Hayley Patrick, and I am a junior at Arlington High School. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and from a young age, I have known that I wanted to play college soccer. Although my journey has not been easy, I have worked hard to make that happen.
I see the strengths of my game as having good field vision and a high soccer IQ. I am also good in the air, and I play a physical style of soccer. I have always tried to lead by example, and I like to encourage my teammates to be at their best. It is always my goal to be the hardest working player on the field. My coaches have often commented on my leadership and described me as being very coachable.
I work hard year-round playing for my high school and for Lady Lobos Rush Showcase. When there is down time or over the summer, I give private lessons to younger players which also extends my knowledge of the game. Currently I am sidelined due to an ACL injury, so my coach has made me his top assistant and that is giving me a completely different perspective of the game. I find myself watching more soccer and becoming even more of a student of the game.
I have been a varsity starter on my high school team since my 9th grade year. I was named to the All-Shelby Metro team as a 9th grader and awarded the “Coaches Player” award. I was named as a co-captain for my11th grade high school season and was the Defensive Player of the Year. I was again named to the All-Shelby Metro team, and I was named to the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches All State team. For my club, I have been part of a Tennessee State Cup Champion and a state Finalist along with representing Tennessee at ODP region camps and events when I was younger. In school I am an Honor Roll student and a member of the Beta Club. I am taking all AP or honors classes and maintain a weighted GPA of over 4.
Throughout my time playing soccer I have learned many things. One of my most important lessons has been to never back away from adversity. I have fought through injury and was once cut from a team that I knew I deserved to be on. I used these experiences to drive me to work harder to get back where I was before. And I am a better person and player because of the experience. I am currently 3 months out from ACL surgery and working harder than ever. The clock is ticking, and I am pushing myself to get back on the field so I can achieve my goal to play at the collegiate level.
I want to attend a college where I can major in Nursing, and I can push myself both in the classroom and on the field. I am open to all options and ultimately want to find the school that matches a good education with the highest level of competition possible.
