My name is Colette Iwakoshi. I am a sophomore(Class of 2026) at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School, and I play on the 2008 Girls Academy Red team for Lonestar Soccer Club in Austin, Texas. I have played soccer since the age of 4, and I plan to continue my journey into college. Soccer has always been a way for me to disconnect from everything else going on in my life, and just to focus and have fun playing the sport that I love. Soccer has taught me important life lessons: teamwork, perseverance, grit, focus, determination, leadership and commitment. These lessons have impacted my everyday life, and they have made me into the player and person I am today.
I've played almost every position (even goalkeeper) since I started playing soccer. The postion that fits the best and that I enjoy the most is the holding mid-field position because it gives me the opportunity to control the flow of the game by connecting the defense with the offense.
I see myself as a leader and am fortunate to have been selected as captain of my team. I use my actions as words and lead by example both on and off the field. I look forward to continuing to learn and become more confident in my skills as a leader.
Overall, I am excited to continue my soccer journey in college so I can continue to grow personally and work towards reaching my highest level of soccer skills.
