Personal Statement
At a young age, I developed a passion for goalkeeping. My team then was not that great. I realized that what bothered me more than not winning was losing. It dawned on me that if I could stop the ball from going in, no matter how badly the team played, we still had a chance to win.
I quickly learned that to be great goalkeeper, I, not only, had to understand the game. I also had to develop mental skills such as probability, geometry, and psychology. It's knowing where to be at any given point, calculating ball distance, arc and speed at any split second, and judging each player's next move based on history, skill set and body language.
These things drive me. It's a challenge that I want because I can make a difference. That is me in a nutshell -- someone passionate who can make a difference. Whether in school, on the field, or in life, I want to be good at what I do and am willing to place it all on the line. It's not about taking the easy road. It's about mastering the hard one.
