When I was 3 years old my dad put a soccer ball in front of me and even though it’s been 12 years since that day, the ball still hasn’t left my feet. I joined my first soccer club at 5 years old and continue to love the game as much as I did when I was younger. My goal then was the same as it is now; to play soccer in college. This past season I switched soccer clubs to compete at a more competitive level and to challenge myself both physically and mentally. While challenging at first, I’ve been able to establish myself as a team leader and gain the respect of my teammates. Through this transition, I’ve also learned that I’m more resilient than I thought and more mentally tough than I realized. My personal development has been as valuable as my athletic development.
During my freshman year of high school I realized a goal of mine by making the varsity soccer team and starting every game. I played striker but have experience playing outside mid as well. My speed, along with my ability to finish with either foot are probably my two biggest strengths.
While playing college soccer is a dream of mine, I’m also excited about my academics and plan to study exercise/health science or psychology. Mental health is something that I’m passionate about and I would love the opportunity to help children and young adults with their mental & physical health when I get older.
