Personal Statement
Ever since I was young, I loved to be in the water and I knew that swimming was the right sport for me. At the age of 7, I moved to Orange County and joined the Mission Viejo Nadadores. Since then, I have improved drastically and I am now part of the national team. Along with swim, I have kept up academically and I am a great scholar.
Being a strong swimmer and student has taught me many things. Since an early age, I learned about responsibility to make sure I did everything I could to do my best in school and swim. Along with being responsible, I also mastered time management so that I could efficiently finish my work, practice hard, and get enough rest to repeat it the next day. I am also very diligent and determined. My friend Jessie Rees used to tell me to Never Ever Give Up and to this day it is a reminder to continue pushing myself to be the best I can be.
I believe that I am a strong leader. I always listen to the coach and I catch on very quickly, making me very coachable. I enjoy leading the lane and making sure everyone knows what we are doing and leaves on the right interval. I also love motivating my teammates and making sure everyone is doing their best because having a team that is as motivated as I am always makes me want to work harder.
Moving forward to college, I aspire to maintain a balance between academics and swimming. My ultimate goal is to make the NCAA finals and graduate with a degree in business so that I may find a job that fits me and makes me happy.
I believe that there is no better feeling than touching the wall, achieving my goals, and knowing that all the hard work I did had paid off. Everyday I give it my all and I believe that with my interminable determination and perseverance I will ultimately achieve my goals.
