Sydney Whisler '22 Recruiting Profile

Watching videos of my dad hanging out of helicopters doing Search and Rescues sparked my desire for aviation. Doing a work-trade with the Truckee Soaring Inc., it taught me that I love the hard work and dedication in the aviation field.  I was able to solo in a glide plane the same week of obtaining my driver's license. My passion is to pursue aviation with the ultimate goal of becoming a pilot. My athletic goals began watching my mom compete in multiple Worlds' Triathlons. In the summers of 2015/16, I competed with the Wild Cherries Triathlon Team and we spent our summers doing triathlons throughout the state. At the end of 2016,  my little brother was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called medulloblastoma. During treatment life was put on pause. I took 2 years off from athletics, in order for my family to focus on supporting and healing each other. In 2018,  I joined the North Tahoe High School Swim Team and my passion for swim accelerated. In August of 2019, I began to swim competitively. While I strive for success and am very goal oriented, my life has been riddled with obstacles. But these obstacles have only deepened my faith, my commitment, and my dedication to succeed even more.
