My name is Jessica Strong. I am 16 years old and am currently in grade 11. Last year, I moved to Jacksonville Florida to attend The Bolles School as an International Boarder. I am originally from Vancouver, BC Canada. I have been a competitive swimmer since I was 5 years old. I love swimming and being a part of a team. At my new school, I get to train with swimmers from 24 different countries and States. We work hard to help each other be the best that we can be. However, I also like to have fun with my teammates outside of the pool.
Over the past ten years, I have participated in other sports too, like gymnastics and soccer. Last year, I played high-level competitive soccer, on top of my swim training. (we won the Provincial Cup). I have also participated in school sports, like volleyball, basketball and track and field. My career goal is to be a Doctor. I would like to be a Pediatrician.
My plan is to study sciences for my undergraduate degree while I swim competitively at University. I hope to represent my Team Nationally and Internationally. I love being a part of a team, it's like a big family. Relays are my favorite because they are so exciting and because I love sprint breaststroke. I am a self-motivated, hard worker. I'm always trying to find ways to improve my training and racing. I am on time, ready to work hard, and ready to push and encourage my teammates. I feel that I bring positive energy to my team.
I also work hard at school. Last year I achieved Honours with Distinction for my academic performance.
In 2019, my school's swim team relay won the Gold Cup at Provincials in the 200M medley relay. I swam the 50M breaststroke in 32.87. Breaststroke is my favorite stroke. I currently have Junior National times, Senior National Times and Junior Trials Times in 50M and 100M Breaststroke, and am just .07 seconds off my Junior Trials time for 200M Breaststroke. I'm also fairly strong in sprint backstroke and fly.
My favorite quote is " Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't." -Jerry Rice.
