I am an outgoing creative person who loves to compete, create works of art and continuously learn and discover. It is my goal, to be the best daughter, sister, student, teammate, and leader I can be. The amount of discipline that swimming requires has transferred to other parts of my life such as school and family and is a large part of who I am today. I am the oldest child with three younger brothers that have taught me responsibility and how to deal with a little chaos surrounding me.
I discovered swimming at the very young age of five. Our family was fortunate to have a pool at home, after spending countless hours in the pool, the summer I turned eight years old I joined the local swim league and was immediately competitive. That fall I joined my current club and have been a competitive swimmer ever since. Like many activities, COVID impacted swim meets and my club particularly hard; since I love to compete, going so long without racing impacted my mental strength to train. After taking six months completely off swimming, I returned to the pool with the help of a personal swim coach, that helped tune my strokes, provided mental strength exercises and preparation to rejoin my swim team as a good teammate and leader.
I thrive on the competitive nature of swimming, although I compete with others in the pool, I compete with myself the most. My father has instilled in me the desire to continuously improve, and I relentlessly pursue every bit of knowledge from other swimmers and coaches so that I put myself in a position to achieve a personal best every time I’m on the blocks.
My three energetic younger brothers have given me the ability to learn caring and mentorship skills that I have taken to the pool and began coaching six and under during summer league. Coaching also gives me a perspective on my own performance and helps me focus on training and improving. In addition, it is my objective, to serve in a leadership role on my high school swim team when I become an upperclassman.
I want to attend a college where I can pursue studies in healthcare and swim competitively. I seek a college that is the right fit for my personality of creativity and continuous improvement. Above all, I seek an education and a discipline that will put me in a solid position to obtain a career in healthcare.
