Personal Statement
Hey, I'm Dexter Benoit. My love for baseball started at a very young age. As a kid, I loved receiving wiffle ball equipment, such as bats and balls, for my birthday. I would throw a ball up and hit it in the front yard, imagining I was hitting the winning grand slam in the World Series. And if I wasn't hitting the Grand Slam to win the World Series, I was striking out the final batter. Anyone could tell that I loved the game more than anything else because of my repetitive requests to play with my brothers and parents. My love for baseball hasn't dulled one bit, and that is why I want to further my baseball career.
I am a team player that cares about every one of my teammates and coaches. I have always encouraged my teammates to push themselves. I am a hard working, competitive work horse. Every night, I do workouts that benefit how I play on the field. When I play on the field, I smile and have fun. I am a very positive person and seek out the good in everyone. I am also a hard worker in the classroom. I have a 3.75 GPA, and I will continue to take AP classes all throughout high school.
I want to commit to a D1 college. I know by the end of high school, I will be more than ready to compete at a D1 level. I will continue to improve exit velocity and throwing velocity throughout high school. My goal by the end of high school is to develop a 90 MPH fastball and a good arsenal of pitches. Regarding hitting and fielding, my goal is to keep a batting average of about .450 (this year it was .439 at a Varsity level). These seem like very realistic goals to me because I will continue to grow and develop into a D1 player. I am grateful for the talents God has given me and I use them wisely.
