Hello Coaches!
My name is Lily Swiech and I am a swimmer for Byron High School in Byron, Illinois, graduating class of 2023.
At a young age, I always loved the water, although I did not take on swimming competitively until I was eight. At first, I was only there for a good time until I realized how much I loved the sport. The hard work and dedication did not come overnight, but my passion for the sport and desire to succeed sure did. I am most definitely goal-oriented and will go the extra mile to accomplish them. I am very competitive not only against others but myself. I am always trying to improve and be the best version of myself in and out of the water. I am driven and determined to succeed and live by the quote “If at first, you don’t succeed, try try again.” I was taught that success is not just handed to someone but has to be worked for. This mental state has helped me overcome the ups and downs that come with swimming and that hard work will pay off. I always strive to do my best both in and out of the water. I take my academics very seriously and have taken many vigorous classes. I have achieved a 4.0 as well as partaking in extracurricular activities including swimming. I take the same mentality that I use in swimming into the classroom and throughout my life. I am looking forward to continuing to challenge myself as a swimmer and a student on a collegiate level.
