Rachel Skoog '15 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Rachel Skoog. I am 5'7" and weigh 130 lbs. I graduate in 2015, and plan on swimming in college. I have been swimming since I was 5 years old and hope that I can continue furthering my swimming career. Academically, I am maintaining a GPA of 3.84. I am on track for graduating in the top 10 percent of my class (of 564). I am looking forward to attending a college that has an outstanding swimming program and great academics.

My passion for swimming is unquestionable by anyone, since most of my time is spent at the pool. I spend my time there either practicing, coaching other teammates, or coaching a pre-swim team. My coaches find it hard to get me to leave the pool. When I sat out part of my High School season injured, I was on the deck helping my coach correct my teammates' stroke techniques. I was nominated as Team Captain my Junior year of High School swimming, and was told personally that I was a role model to many girls on the team. I try to push myself and the other girls on the team to be the best that they could be, since swimming is as much as a team sport as it is an individual sport.  I won 6th in IHSA sectionals for the 200IM, and I'm currently training hard to achieve state times next year. While swimming for club, I was reigning regional champ in the 200 IM for 3 seasons in a row. I qualified for Senior Championships in the 100 and 200 breast and qualified for Junior Championships for many other events in the past.
