Hi! My name is Haley Johnson, I'm from Illinois and I'm a swimmer for FMC Aquatic and am also on the varsity team for Lockport Township High School. I've been competitively swimming since I was 6 years old and hope to continue pursuing my swimming career in the future. I would love to go to a large school to have a variety of experiences with also being in a different environment and meeting new people. But most importantly, I want to go to a university that where I will be provided a good education that will prepare me for my next step in life. While I don't know what field or major I want to study yet, I hope to gain enough knowledge about the many different options I can take in my college education over the next couple years to make that decision.
I want to continue my swimming career into college because of the incredible environment the sport has. Swimming creates many close friendships where everyone is super supportive of each other. Since I've been swimming since such a young age, I've grown to know and love the sport along with the peaks and challenges that come along with it. When I was 14, I had to choose whether I wanted to continue my swimming or soccer career. Ultimately, I decided to continue with swimming because that's where I thought my talent was truly at. I am very happy I decided to continue my swimming career because it has brought so many positive relationships into my life along with important life lessons and constructive criticism which I continually use in and out of the pool. Swimming has taught me things in life that no other sport could. Whether it was knowledge I actually used in the pool, or just in my general everyday life, this sport had definitely benefited me in that aspect. Over the past year, I have really learned the importance of working as hard as I can during training, and being completely focused on practices to make the most out of them. These traits have really helped me improve in the sport, and I am now starting to realize how important swimming is to me and how much I want to continue my swimming career in college.
