Personal Statement
I have been swimming my whole life and have been competing since I was 8. Ever since I was little, swimming at the collegiate level has been a huge goal. I have swam for Dave Joensen at Central Iowa Aquatics since I was 12 and have been on my high school Varsity team since freshman year. I have broken numerous class and Varsity records. Not only is swimming important to me, but so is my education. My hope is that I can use my passion to help me through a four-year college.
I stongly believe that hard work and dedication mixed with strong desire can take you places that many doubt you could ever reach. I haven't always been winning high point awards or breaking state records like my opponents, but I believe that those times in my swimming career are yet to come. This past year, I have really started thinking about my future and what I want. I have always thought that there is so much more to who I am as a swimmer and a student than what I have shown thus far. I would have to say that's what motivates me the most. When the swimming gets tough and my classes seem impossible, I always listen to the voice in my head that keeps telling me, "There is more to you than this, you haven't given your all. Don't give up." With the kind of determination, dedication, and discipline that I have been raised to have, I don't think anyting could stop me from reaching any type of goal I set my mind to.
