Freshman year is when swimming really changed for me. I was going in as the underdog and would come out in February at the Nebraska State Swim meet third in the state. With the help of my coaches, team mates and family, I was able to push myself and accomplish something I never thought possible, pure self-gratification and a sense of accomplishing a difficult task. In the future I want to continue to grow and work hard to become better and better everyday. I want to swim in college and maybe even beyond that if the opportunity presents itself. Swimming has impacted my life this much thus far that when I'm older, I want to coach kids so they can find the same love I have right now.
I think what really got me into swimming was playing other sports such as soccer, volleyball and cross country. While I loved all of these sports, being away from swimming further grew my love for the sport. This is when I decided to stick to strictly swimming. Outside of swimming I volunteer for the Special Olympics Nebraska every year as well as I am on my High School's yearbook staff which requires me to be involved and cover lots of different sports, activities, and events.
