Abigail Blackford '19 Recruiting Profile

   I am always looking for ways to challenge myself to grow and improve in the things I love doing. I define myself as a student athlete with my main focus being swimming and school. I have always prioritized swimming first over other activities. I believe that it is better to put all of yourself into something to see just how good you can be instead of spreading yourself thin. One of my favorite parts about swimming is that no matter how long you swim there will always be things to learn and try and room to grow in the sport. I believe in a growth mindset and strongly feel that when you put in the work you can always get better. I also apply this mindset to my academics. I looking for a challenge and take classes that may be a little outside my comfort zone and gain far more knowledge and academic skill than if I had chosen an easier class. In college swimming I am looking to be a part of a community that shares my passion for swimming, and works hard to reach their goals as a team. I see myself at a school with a team first attitude and where people work hard to reach their goals collectively and individually.
