As a student athlete I enjoy teamwork, challenges, and spirit. Being an athlete, there has been many times where I have failed but I have learned how to improve. An example would be in the summer of 2018, I missed the Mid Atlantic Senior Champ cut time for the 50 free by exactly .03. This was devastating but the following year I worked very hard and finally reached my goal and also managed to qualify for other events as well. As much as swimming is important to me I also find music really important. In my high school I am currently playing the violin in the orchestra and the mellophone for the band. As well as being a musician I find myself volunteering for an organization I find close to heart in my free time. I am the event coordinator of Southern Lehigh for a club called Angel 34 in the Lehigh Valley. The nonprofit organization provides necessities to pediatric cancer patients and their families. I know first hand what it’s like to see a family struggle to find time to have fun while tending to a sick child. The main reason I want to become a oncologist when I grow up is because I was aware of what cancer was at age five when my best friend was diagnosed with brain cancer. What sets me apart from most others is the exposure I have to other cultures. As a first generation American in my family I have traveled to many different places including France, Canada, and India. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had as a child and have used these experiences to influence my actions I take to this day. Overall I find myself never bored and always doing something with my free time. I hope that the college I choose to go to offers opportunities like the ones I’ve had in the past and presents itself with new teammates, challenges, and spirit for the school.
