Hi! My name is Lauren Mitchell.
I am definitely not your typical 17 year old girl. Instead of going out with friends on my Friday nights, you can find me at practice working my hardest and trying to improve. My best events are the 100 free, 200 IM, and 200 free, but I am very versatile. During my freshmen year I achieved the district cut in all 8 events. I am only the second girl in Council Rock history to achieve this. I swam on the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay for my school both freshmen and sophomore year. These relays went to PIAA State Championships and we received medals both years. My goal for this year is to make it to the State Championships in an individual event. At my high school Suburban One League Championships, I have medaled in every event I have swam. It is amazing to be able to put points up on the board for my team.
I try my best to balance swimming and school work and I think I do a pretty good job. I excel at English, social studies, and science. I am not sure what I would like to major in, but I believe I would like to do something in the medical field.
Swimming is not just a sport to me, it's a lifestyle. In 8th grade, I took a break from swimming and I did not feel like myself. Swimming is something that defines who I am as a person and it truly helped shape my character. Swimming has taught me dedication, loyalty, respect, time management, and motivation. My teammates on both my club and high school team are my family and they make the impossible practices and early mornings worth it. The early morning practices, the bad swims, the busy schedule, the constant smell of chlorine on my skin; it is all worth it when I can finish a race and look up at the clock to see a best time.
