Ella Werbecki '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ella Werbecki and I am a junior at Scituate High School in Rhode Island.  I started my swimming career at 6 months old in the Smithfield YMCA infant program and I’ve been swimming ever since. I began swimming competitively at 9 years old on the Smithfield YMCA Jr. Dolphins and then (currently) the YMCA Dolphins team.  
My high school does not have a formal swim team, so a swimmer-friend and I initiated an “independent” HS swim team in order to compete in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, starting freshman year.
I swim year round, and compete in the Fall/Winter season primarily, brush up on technique during Spring swim team, and remain in swim shape during the Summer swim team season.  I added personalized strength training to my schedule in HS so I am physically stronger in the water.
While I am able to perform all strokes and yardage, including 500s, my favorite events are the 50 Free, 200 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back and 100 Breast. I am a consistent performer in the pool, and I enjoy the team aspect during relays where I am typically designated as the anchor in Freestyle relays, and swim Breast in medley relays. 
I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society, currently enrolled in all Honors and AP classes, and I am also enrolled in the Biomedical CTE pathway at SHS. In addition to Swimming, I have been an Equestrian since I was 3 years old. If time and course load permits, I would enjoy riding in college as well, either for a club or competitively. 

My collegiate goals are to swim at the highest possible level, and to earn a Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field, prior to continuing on to medical school.
