Hi! My name is Kat Kester and I'm a junior at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. I have loved the sport of swimming for years not only because of the competitive side of it, but the physiological impact of the sport on my body and my mind. Outside of the pool, I love to keep my body moving with things like paddle boarding, hiking, and rafting. I'm a big advocate for the wellbeing of my mind, and learning about new ways to keep my energy flowing and getting outdoors is what drives me. I love to read and write, and I try to cultivate my mind with such things as much as possible. Harmony of a healthy, happy mind and body in myself and those around me is very important to me. As captain of my high school team, I believe that each person has their own part to play in building a winning team, and I try my best to bring that out in other people. In terms of academics, I love learning about psychology and english, which happen to be my favorite subjects. subjects such as latin and herbalism also intrigue me. In terms of my goals as a collegiate athlete, I want to cultivate swimming as a life-long sport so I'm able to compete in open-water swimming competitions.
