The coach that changed my mindset and developed me the most towards running was definitely Telisa Young when I was in middle school. I began my career as a runner with the mindset that whatever natural athletic ability you have is what makes you good at running. While this is certainly true to an extent, she showed me that through grinding in workouts and improving your form, you can really increase your pace.
However, my biggest asset in my opinion comes from my time in basketball when I attended the camp PGC. When I was there, I learned how to shape my team to be better and elevate the environment as a whole. While running isn't a team sport in the exact same way that basketball is, the skills I learned are still crucial in that they enhance workouts for me and my teammates.
I have spent 2020 training with my high school team and with Paul Carrozza’s program. I am looking for a school that will provide a great education and a chance to keep exploring my potential as a runner. My two favorite classes this year are IB Physics and IB Film.
