"You are only as good, as the time and effort you put into yourself."- Jack Lin (WETT Head Coach) In my twelve years of swimming I have always known that I would swim in college. I still remember eight-year-old-me telling everyone that I would be a gold medalist at the Olympics. Although practices can be grueling, hell week can be torture, and the endless laps I swim may seem eternal, there is no other sport in which I would rather be apart. Swimming has taught me many things that I apply to my everyday life such as dedication, discipline, character and most importantly focus. Once I set my mind on a goal I do not quit until that goal is achieved. The gift of focus not only applies in practice or at meets but also in the classroom. As an AP student I have to be committed to not only my training but my homework and studies as well. Aside from being focused, I am a natural born leader. My junior year, I was selected by my teammates and coach as a Captain of my high school swim team. Now, as a senior, I can proudly say that I have taken on the role of Head Captain. I have a strong will to succeed in everything I take on. My parents tell me that it is their responsibility to provide me with what I need to become a happy, well-rounded, productive adult but it is my responsibility to take those resources and use them to meet my goals. One college goal is to major in Biology, while continuing to develop and excel in my swimming career.
