Dear Coaches,
My name is May Guidoux, and I am thrilled to be pursuing a collegiate water polo and swim career. I am entering my Junior year of high school. As a dedicated and accomplished multi-sport athlete, I am eager to contribute my skills and passion to your program.
Throughout my freshman and sophomore years I have excelled in swim, water polo, Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit swim achieving notable accolades that reflect my commitment and hard work.
My swim journey has not followed a conventional path, I firmly believe that my diverse and well-rounded background sets me apart as a unique and gifted swim recruit. I do not have a robust club career because I've embraced a multitude of sports (Olympic Weightlifting, water polo, CrossFit) to nurture both my physical and mental well-being. This approach has shielded me from the peril of burnout and allowed me to approach swimming with a fresh perspective each time I dive in. During my sophomore season (3 months) I was able to drop over 6 seconds (1:12 to 1:06) in less than 2 months of training. I consider myself a diamond in the rough, ready to be molded and polished, and I am eager to bring my innate talent, determination, and well-rounded spirit to the world of competitive swimming.
I am a 2022 Washington State champion in the 200 Medley Relay (breaststroke). I was a finalist in the Washington State Championship swim meet, placing 7th overall.
I am a two-time state water polo champion. As a sophomore in 2023 I earned First Team All League, First Team All State and was voted the MVP of Washington State. Water polo has taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and resilience, values that I am eager to carry with me to the collegiate level.
As much as I value my athletic achievements, I am equally dedicated to my academics. My current GPA is 3.8/4.0 which includes many honors courses. My commitment to maintaining good grades while taking college and honors courses demonstrates my ability to balance the demands of sports and education. I am aware that academic excellence is vital in achieving long-term success, and I am committed to upholding the same level of dedication and discipline in my studies as I do in the pool.
In addition to my athletic and academic pursuits, I believe in being an active and positive member of my community. I have developed a girls’ weightlifting program for young girls to learn how to lift weights, gain confidence and get strong. Giving back to the community that has supported me has been a rewarding experience, and I intend to continue making a positive impact wherever I go.
My dream is to become part of a college swim and/or water polo program where I can grow as an athlete, scholar, and individual. I look forward to the possibility of representing your institution and contributing to its legacy both in and out of the pool.
