Personal Statement
I originally found my love for swimming when my parents put me and my sisters in to a Summer Swim League program when I was 12. I remember loving the atmosphere and the competition, and I could never wait for the next season to start. From there, I convinced my parents to let me join a Year Round Club team, which I am still participating in now. I have taken that original love for this sport and used it to get better in a very short amount of time. Since I have only been swimming for a few years, I still have a lot of improving to do, which I see as a positive with me being at the level I am at already. A lot of the people I swim with have been doing this for over ten years, so for me to be equal or faster than them is a huge accomplishment in my eyes.
A very important thing to me is sportsmanship. I always cheer on my team mates while they race, and I am there to encourage and congratulate them afterwards. Everyone likes to have others supporting them, so I have made it a personal goal of mine to try to be as supportive as possible, even to other teams.
Just as important to me is good grades. Even in middle school, I have been obsessed with getting a 4.0 GPA. I have continued this through my high school career, and I am very proud of it. I have also challenged myself to take the more difficult classes that my school offers, such as four different AP classes.
The point I am trying to get across is that I am not just a self-motivated hard-worker, but I also care very much for sportsmanship. I hope that you will see the potential I have since I have only been competing for a few years and consider me as a viable new recruit for your team.
