At the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I purposed in my heart to become the first in my family to play a sport in college and eventually make it to the Olympics. I don't believe that any dream is too high or too hard and I truly believe that with the proper coaching and time, I will achieve my goal. Every year since then I have worked endlessly to move myself to a higher level of competition. When I moved from Texas to Colorado, the competition and the meets worked differently than I had been previously taught. I had to adjust to the competition and learn to lead with good behavior and hard work ethic. Within one short year, my family moved to West Virginia and I had to learn to transition to the increased competition and new methods. I joined a team in Virginia and have only progressed from there. I forced myself to rise to the level of the National competitors on the team and to even challenge their speed. I drew in younger and newer swimmers by setting up small parties such as sleep-overs and girls nights, in order to bring unity to the team and to break the cliques so that all the swimmers could see that we all were equally important and each needed to put forth our own effort. I consider myself a strong leader that is not easily waivered by opinions and status. I do not have trouble telling the truth even if it may make me unpopular. I believe that a good leader and athlete needs to stand firm in his or her own convictions and show true sportsmanship
