My name is Taylor Nichols, and I have been playing tennis since I was 4 years old. When I was young, I used to play tennis with my dad every day and he started off as my coach. Not only did I begin to love the game, I started to get very good at it and soon realized it was the sport for me. I sometimes used tennis to release emotions and express my confidence that I sometimes struggled to have in other areas of my life. I have always been great in school and academics has never been a issue for me. I am an honors student, that pays great attention to detail, and I am extremely dedicated to the success of my future.
I often volunteer at my church functions along with community service projects to help the unfortunate. On holidays, my dad and I make plates with the church and take them to feed the homeless. I also participated in the Sandwich Project to feed the needy. Giving back to the community is very important to me. I worked as a yearbook staff student for the yearbook club. I am a part of Future Business Leaders of America, Girls United and currently work at a sandwich shop called McAllister's. These various organizations have showed me the importance of giving back to others as well as putting your best foot forward when presenting yourself. Also, it has taught me how to be a leader in the business world and the importance of details.
For the last 3 years, I have been the Captain of my Varsity tennis team. Playing the hardest position on the team, has strengthened my leadership skills. It has also strengthened me mentally. As I had to be the one to help encourage my team and try to maintain positive energy on the courts at all times. I am a team-player, that loves contributing to the success of my team. We have won the regional championships, multiple community-based tournaments and reached the elite 8 in the state championship. I love leading my team to success.
I believe that I would be a great addition to any college team because I am always determined to get better, coachable, hard working, and a great listener. I am also a very competitive person that will always play my hardest to win for my team. I understand that in order to be a successful tennis player, you have to be open and always willing to learn and take advice. I will represent and honor the University or college the best that I can at all times on and off the court.
In college, I would like to study Pre-Med. My ultimate goal is to attend a college that supports both of my dreams, which are playing on a high-level competitive team and receiving a medical degree.
