Qualifying for state through the Illinois High School Association as a freshman was a wonderful experience where I learned about tennis and how players can vary greatly. My sophomore year, however, was when I learned about my personal tennis game. The leap from playing the number two singles position to the number one position presented me with many new challenges. While playing number one singles as a sophomore, I learned that it takes discipline and dedication to be a great player. While facing the best players each town had to offer, I learned that I consistently had to play at a high level during each match. I am continuing to work on my tennis game to become the best player that I could possibly become.
Academics are equally as important, if not more important, compared to athletics. Throughout my high school career I have made my school work a priority to ensure that I maintain great grades. I am looking for a college that understands the importance of balancing grades and sports. My goal for college is to pursue a degree that will enable me to become an orthodontist. I believe that with my consistent work-ethic and determination it is extremely realistic for me to achieve my goals.
