As a student-athlete, I recognize the crucial importance of portraying hard work and leadership both in the classroom and on the tennis courts. As a student I strive to challenge myself, and realize that being a successful student goes beyond receiving exceptional grades, but also involves having a willing attitude to help others. In a similar way, on the tennis courts I am constantly pushing myself to my physical and mental limits. When training, I recognize the truth in the statement "the pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow." After all, when I'm deep in a third set, trying to pull out a win for both myself and my team, it is my faith, determination, but most importantly preparedness that guides me to that win. I am intrepid when facing challenges and try to be a leader and role model to my fellow teammates. However, my priorities don't just lie within my academics and athletics. My faith and my family are two of my most important priorities. In truth, both are what guide me to becoming a better student and athlete. Besides tennis, I enjoy running, acting, and singing, and dedicate much time to the performing arts within school and in my church. In junior high I was a state qualifier in cross-country, and was also the winner of the clinical microbiology category at the state science fair. I am recognized by others for my athleticism, intelligence, maturity, and motivational attitude. Most importantly, what makes me "stand out" from other student athletes is my incredible determination and drive for success. My goal is to participate in collegiate level tennis for all four years, while getting my degree and progressing academically to reach a medical profession. My goal is to be a role model to other students and athletes. My goal is to never lose sight of my true priorities. With that being said, my goals can only be achieved through hard work, sacrifice, determination, and passion. As a student-athlete, I am ready to turn those goals into realities, no matter the sacrifice and hard work required.
