My name is Lannea Brown, and I am a part of the Class of 2021. I am sharing with you how tennis has had a terrific impact on my life. It has allowed me to build my confidence and self-esteem. I became interested in the sport at a very young age because I’ve always liked the way the pros hit the ball and the fancy shots they also incorporate in their game. Throughout my years of playing the sport, I’ve learned that I perform better under pressure. I put myself in the position whereas I have nothing to lose so I should go out and give everything I got. I am currently in the 11th grade, and I would love the opportunity to play tennis in college. I want to graduate high school on the A Honor Roll, but to do that I have to find a way of balancing out my academic life from sports life. Overall, I’ve been doing pretty great these past few years. I am a part of Beta Club as well as the National Honor Society, so I know with the hard work and dedication I will be able to achieve my goal. However, for college, my goals are entirely different. My top priority in college is to graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. It may take a little time, but I know it will all be worth it in the end.
I am confident I will be able to find a team in college that will allow me the chance of pursuing my goals in tennis as well as academics. Not only can tennis help me with my education, but it can also teach me many life lessons. One significant lesson I learned is there is always a way to fight back. No matter how bad it is, you can always find a way. I still fight to the very end. I try to focus more on my shot selections than the score because I feel the score never reflects the match. Your actions and behaviors reflect who you are as a person. Giving up should not be an option when you’re down it should make you want to win even more. Overall I enjoy the competition of tennis and look forward to getting better throughout my years of college. I would like to thank you for giving me your time and hope we will be able to talk in person soon.
