Personal Statement

I started running during my seventh grade year at St. Bernard Prep and haven't been able to stop since. I love to run and am easily motivated to do so. I am looking for a college that likes that in it's runners and is as equally dedicated to giving us opportunities to do just that. To prove how dedicated I am, I have written a brief outline of my cross country and track & field accomplishments from seventh grade to junior year.

Within the time just between my seventh grade year and junior year I have gone from running a 22:07 to a 19:04 in the 5k and plan to run even faster by my senior year. I have great leader abilities and have been St. Bernard's Captain for both the Cross Country and Track & Field team since my eighth grade year, which is seen as a tough task for a little girl like me but I was more then up to the challenge. Since my eighth grade year my school's girl team has gone from three runners to nearly twenty and have won sectionals three times and came in third once at the Alabama Cross Country State Meet and have been Runner-Up at State for the last two years. I am confident we will win next year if we continue to train hard. As for myself, I have been All-State since seventh grade to eleventh and have placed 8th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, and 5th at State respectively and have won the Cullman Times' Runner of the Year and have been an honorable mention since eighth grade.

As for my track seasons, I did not start competing in track until my eighth grade when my School made its first Track & Field Team. During my eight grade year I place first in both the 3200m and 1600m at the Alabama Track & Field State Meet and first again the 3200m the following year. Last year I was the first leg of the 4x800m team at State and we were able to take home the silver metal, the year before we placed 3rd, but we are planing to earn the gold this track season and I myself am planing to win back the 3200m and 1600m Championship as well.
