My name is Juliah Rodgers, I'm currently a Junior at Jessieville High School. I started track when I was in the 7th grade, as soon as I started I thought I was going to be a sprinter, I never would have dreamed I was going to be in distance. My coach one day pulled me aside and said "you are running with the distance team today", I'm pretty sure I cried and told myself I was going to quit. I started going to practice and running with the distance team, they made me feel like I was a part of a family. I started to enjoy running and it became such a relaxing sport to me. I would have to work my butt off to be able to go to the meets with my team since I was in 7th grade at this time, my coaches and dad saw something that no one else did. In my 8th-grade year I joined Cross Country and I hated it because I lost every race I went into, I told my dad I was never going to do it again and I was quitting, but he didn't let me. I went to all the practices and I was setting goals for myself, I worked my butt off to get where I am today I've fallen in love with running.
My goal when I'm in college is to be a leader to the team, also when I am at the collegiate level I do not want to be the fasted girl starting out on the team, I want to work my way up to the top spot. My goals for running in college are going sub 17:00 on my XC 5K and sub 4:40 on the mile. I’ve always dreamed of running in college, and be able to win as a team. I would be a good candidate for the team, because I will always put God first where I go, I'm a team player and do whatever it is the coach is asking me to do. Before I graduate I plan on breaking the 5:00 barrier I plan on making goals for myself to break so I can be a better runner. I also plan on graduating college with a Kinesiology and Health Major, K-12 (KNHL) (Teacher licensure), B.S degree and to one day be a XC/Track and Field coach myself. I would love the opportunity to learn from a top level coach, and maybe be an assistant coach at a collegiate level.
