I love running. The first time I remember running was in PE, I was in 2nd grade. I thought I was weird, everyone would complain about having to 400-800m and I would get excited. My favorite subjects were math and science, but I started to look forward to PE instead so that I could run. Dad would run almost every day and I would play there. Then one day, my dad asked me if I wanted to run with him and when I was done running one lap I wanted to run another one. Dad says I got "I-love-running-genes" from him, but even without him, I'd love running.
Stressed? Go on a run. Happy? Let's go running. Upset? Running will help. Angry? Just run. Bored with nothing to do? Put those running shoes on? Running is just perfect for any occasion.
Running is definitely one of my top motivators. Although I do enjoy going to school and learning every day, I would say that my grades wouldn't look the way they do now if it wasn't for my family, friends, and... you guessed it, running. I have to make sure that I have strong grades in order to run. Academic are before sports, but I know that if my grades drop I won't be able to run and if I can't run then schoolwork will become an even heavier load.
Thanks to running I have been able to learn how to manage my time more effectively. Running has also taught me the importance of commitment, competition, and sportsmanship. I've met many of my friends from different high schools through running. I have gotten better at handling pressure and have gained even more leadership experience due to running.
