Personal Statement
I did not find my passion for running until I stepped onto the track in 9th grade. That was when I discovered how much I love the sport, love the team, and love to push myself. I found myself on the 4X800 relay team at the state championship where we finished 4th place. I also ran a PR to become the only runner from my school to qualify for the state finals in the 1600M. My sophomore year, my relay team finished 2nd in state and I ran in the 1600M final. I enjoy the 800M and 1600M. Those middle distance races are as much about will as they are speed and form. I have learned through these races that I have a strong will to win. Through training and camps, I am continuing to learn how to push through hard days physically and mentally.
Off the track, I work just as hard in the classroom. I take on the most challenging classes offered at my school and work hard to excel in them. While most people would describe me as quiet, I enjoy chatting with my teammates during training and camps and love class discussions. I am an avid reader, love science and have been told that I write well. I am involved in my church youth group through weekly meetings, summer camps and various volunteer work.
My goal is to run at the highest level I can while learning in an academically challenging and stimulating environment. I will bring a strong work ethic, steady demeanor and love of running to any team.
