I first recall loving to run when I was 6 years old racing my dad on the beach. I started track in 6th grade, and it has been my dream ever since to have the opportunity to run Track and Field at the collegiate level. Running is my life, and running in college would be one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
Not only do I love the sport, but I also love the people. Track and Cross Country are both team sports, and I see each and every one of my teammates as family. There has never been a meet that I have not cheered them on. I have also been told numerous times how motivational I am, which is something I take pride in. I have always been a natural team leader and was awarded team captain of the cross country team for my 2024 season, and I also am team captain for the current Track season (2024). I was also awarded the “Team Spirit“ award by my teammates and coaches at my schools Fall Sports Awards in the 2022 season of cross country, as well as the “Most improved runner” award in the Fall Sports Awards in the 2023 season in cross country. On top of this, I was named school athlete of the week, for knocking 17 seconds off my time in order to help qualify the team for sectionals.
Unfortunately, in my cross country season in 2022 I tore the Labrum in my hip and was out for the duration of the season as well as that following track season (2023). Fortunately, I healed enough to be able to run a couple 400 meter races with a winning time of 1:06.83 (with a now 1.03.67 pr) while I was untrained. With this, I switched my main events to sprints and am now running in all varisty races and hoping to go to state this following year for IHSA. Track has healed my mental health, and well being in general. There is no where I’d rather be than in the blocks and racing.
Track pushes me to do well in school, and in life. It genuinely would be an honor to be able to follow my dreams and run at the collegiate level. With my hard-work, determination and leadership, I know I have what it takes.
