Hi! My name is Sam Miller, and I am a senior at Carmel High School. This past year I had the opportunity to be a part of my school's varsity cross country roster. We were very successful this year as we won state for the fifth year in a row and placed third at Nike Cross Nationals. My team has also had success in track this year and placed fifth at the Indiana State Outdoor Track State Championships. We were also the Indoor State Champions this past season. The Carmel High School Girls Cross Country Programs have consistently been ranked as top in the State of Indiana as well as having National Rankings.
I consider myself to be very hard working and driven as well as very flexible. Although my specialty is distance running, I am very capable at competing in many other events as well. I have worked hard and earned varsity spots in track in several events. During track, I was often called upon to complete in a variety of events, ranging from the 300m hurdles, the 400 m, the 800 m, the 1600 m, the 1600 m relay, and the 3200 m relay. I was able to s hit our schools lettering standard for all of these events. So I am definitely a team member that can be counted on to contribute to the team.
I am very excited for my Senior year and the running opportunities that I will have during the season. I am passionate about continuing to make improvements in my times which will help my team as well as assist me in my personal goal of of running at the College level.
My goal for this upcoming cross country season is be a top seven spot on our team and be part of the State Roster. I hope to break 19 minutes in the 5k and to continue to knock time off my PR. I also plan on being a senior leader helping others on the team of 140 girls! My goal for the track season is to continue to excel at multiple events, set PR's, and run at the State Championships.
Academically, I am able to excel in a wide range of courses from AP English to AP sciences. I would like to attend a school that would challenge me academically as well as athletically in my pursuit of a degree in Biomedical Engineering..
