I am excited to be a Drury Panther next year. I will be continuing my academic and running career in college. I officially signed November 19th, 2018.
I want to be a collegiate student athlete for many reasons. Personally, I enjoy the camaraderie you have on a team. In playing volleyball and softball for years, I never really found my fit until I stepped onto the track as a freshman in high school. I have found my zest for life. I love to run. I’m excited for every season, every year. Running never gets old. I think about my goals all the time and I am actively training even in the off season to achieve them. When I step onto the track, I’m nervous but excited every time. I am determined as ever to cross that finish line first in every race. I want to be a part of a team so I can continue to experience these feelings and friendships.
Why would a college team want me? As a young athlete, I was constantly told that I was never good enough and that I would never be able to make the high school team because of my small size. For most young athletes, this would only bring them down and make them quit. For me, it made me work harder and stronger. Now, I am an organized, responsible, reliable and driven student athlete. Sports have strengthened my character and my tenacity. I have been told by coaches that I receive feedback and criticism well. I am then able to implement those improvements into my run/game. I am a competitor both on and off the field as well as a team player. I strive to be my best personally as well as help others along the way. My studies are just as important to me as I have high aspirations to become a physician. I have been able to balance multiple sports, extra outside training, having a tutor as well as continue to get good grades during high school.
As for what college and where, I am open to anything and everything. I do not have any preferences as of right now. I am willing to travel anywhere. I would like to feel that I fit in with the school, coaching staff and team. This also includes being open to the size of the school and what division the school is in. I would like to go into the medical field after college, so I am looking for a school with a good backbone in biology and physical sciences.
