Hello! My name is Kallie Keiter, and I will graduate from Blue Valley High School in May of 2025. Growing up, I have always been involved with my church, and this has had a major influence on who I am as a person and an athlete. It has made me a better team player and taught me to love encouraging my teammates. I started doing track and field in seventh grade, and I had no idea what discus was. I ran the 1600m and the 800m in seventh grade and needed a third event, so I tried discus and have loved it ever since. Since then, I have increased my personal record by 20 feet each year. I am aiming to sustain this pattern throughout the rest of my high school career, and into college. Through competing in track, I have learned that I have the persistence to follow through on my goals.
I would like to attend a college that values its academics as much as it treasures its athletics because growing intellectually is crucial to me. My academic aspirations for high school are to keep challenging myself with difficult classes, do well on the ACT, and maintain my GPA throughout the rest of high school. In college, I am interested in studying sports management and marketing.
An obstacle that I had to overcome both mentally and physically was getting injured at the beginning of my sophomore season. Injuring my shoulder and learning how to work through it has given me more patience with my sport, and has taught me to push myself with limits. Even with these restraints, I was able to beat my personal best by 20 feet again by the end of the season.
I am a good listener and a coachable athlete, so I cannot wait to continue throwing and learning new things in college. Additionally, I would like to attend a college where the team feels like family with hard-working and determined athletes like myself.
