I come from a bunch of soccer players . There are four of us. I am the youngest. Each time my parents have another child she is taller and faster than the last. I hated being tall in middle school. It took a bit to figure out how to get my legs under me. But my middle school track coach showed me the hurdles and being so tall became a blessing! Between the hurdles and the 400 I found I could run with the wind.. I have a family of Soccer players, but I hope to shake it up . I have played soccer my whole life and always played for the highest select team for my age group. We've won state twice, have been finalists three times and .I play varsity for one of the best HS teams in NW Louisiana. But in my first year of Track once I saw Kyah Loyd run for my HS her senior year I decided that was going to be my goal. I would follow her to Tulane after beating her state record in the 300 hurdles before I graduated.
I've had set backs.Broke two bones in my right foot in the 300 hurdles my freshman year early in the season. I thought the pop in my foot was a broken spike on my cleat, jumped the last two hurdles and just missed first. When I looked down at my shoe I was wrong. It wasn't my cleat that had broken but 2 bones in my foot. That was a PR race for my although I came in second . But I done for the rest of the season.Worked hard to rehab and not miss any of my ODP that summer or varsity soccer that fall.
All spring of 2018, when finally released from soccer, I dug in to track training. Things were really falling into place with my latest PR in 300 H at 47.89. until my 4th meet when I blew out my left knee , tearing my LCL. I am now post-op month five August 29, and rehabbing aggressively. This injury is another set back. But even so I am certain this will be my fastest track season ever. With PT and strength training all winter this is my year . Faster than ever!
