Personal Statement
I am very fortunate to be apart of an athletic program like Rockford’s. It gives me many opportunities I wouldn’t experience at other schools. I play three sports, basketball, softball and track. I have excelled the most in track. I went to state three of the four years I have been in the track. My eighth grade year I went to state in the 4x400 and placed 5th. My freshman year I went in four events, the 4x400 (9th place), 4x200 (9th place), 4x100 (3rd place) and triple jump (3rd place). My sophomore year I went in three events 100m, triple jump (3rd place), 4x200 (3rd place). Each year I strive to be better track athlete and to learn from my mistakes of the past years.
I am a dual-sport athlete which means I play softball and track in the same season. During a typical spring day I go to softball practice first then to track practice. Most of the time this means I’m practicing track by myself since most of the coaches have left for the day.I get most of my training for jumps in the winter at Shani Johnson Jumps camp at the University of Minnesota. I am very excited to see what I can do in college with my focus solely on track. Most of the athletes I compete against are only in track and I balance two spring sports and excel in both.
The main focus of college is to get an education, I have a 4.10 GPA and expect to continue to grow and have success in the classroom. In the spring time I have to work very hard in both my academics and athletics. I am a self guided and extremely motivated athlete who has success not only on the court, track or field, but in the classroom.
