Personal Statement
Going to the Missouri State Championships in both cross country and track each year have been the highlights of my high school career. Then, winning the State Championship as the anchor in the 4x800 relay my sophomore year really showed me the importance and reward for teamwork and personal commitment. I have achieved multiple All-State recognitions in both cross country and track, with my times and finishes improving significantly each year. Going into my senior year as a team captain for cross country, my goal for us is to win a state title and a personal top 10 finish.
My love for running began in elementary school PE class when we ran the mile for time. My goal was always to beat every boy. Through that, I discovered my competitive drive, and since then it has only grown along with my hard work ethic, compassion for the sport, and love for the team. I continue to surprise myself each season with how hard my body can really push, and I want to keep doing so by continuing my running career at the college level.
Off the track, I am very focused in all my Honors and AP classes. Those courses , along with volunteering, have led me to be a member in the National Honor Society, along with Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society) and Beta Chi Pi (science honor society). I have big academic goals for college and want to use my love for math in my major. Outside of academics, I am also involved in my school’s select jazz choir and youth group at my church.
I am excited to find a college that meets both my academic and athletic aspirations.
