In college, my main goal is to keep improving on my throwing and to learn how to become successful in my career. Javelin is something I am very passionate about which is why I am so dedicated to it; but if I am being honest, "passionate" is the understatement of the century. I was one of three throwers for my school this past year. Two of those three were boys, and they stopped throwing half-way through the season. My coach is always busy helping others with hurdles, sprints, and jumps, so I have learned to set big goals and push myself further each day so I can reach those goals.
Because of the occasional snow shower my town sees throughout the springtime, some days are harder than others. Sometimes I am only able to throw an indoor shot-put for an hour-and-a-half since it will be blizzarding outside. Days like these are the days where my patience is tested. I prefer practicing each throw every day, but some days I simply can't. However, those days have caused me to make the most out of every outdoor practice.
I am a self-motivated individual that does everything I set my mind to. If I can dream it, then I can do it. As previously stated, I set goals for myself and I achieve them. This year, all I could dream about was being the first person from my school to make it to the State Meet. With a lot of mental and physical effort, I was able to accomplish that goal. I even ended up in the final round and finished better than I was seeded! My ability to achieve goals is most directly related to my ability to be coached. While I am on my own for some practices, I focus extremely hard on the techniques that my coaches teach me. As a result, I ended placing on a podium or making it to the final round at every meet.
In addition to excelling in sports, I am also an extremely dedicated student. I consider myself to be a perfectionist, so I don' t finish something unless it is done to the best of my ability. Playing three sports a year and maintaining a high GPA can be overwhelming at times, but knowing that all my effort has proven itself in my grades is an incredibly rewarding feeling.
