Despite having played competitive soccer for almost ten years, including high school varsity soccer for the past three seasons, my experience in track and field has inspired me to want to compete in college. I have discovered how the sport of track and field is so unique as it combines teamwork with personal achievements. I started throwing the javelin recreationally before officially starting my career in high school. I am influenced by my father as he threw the javelin in both high school and college. I am drawn to this event because I can study the correct technique, train for competition, and monitor my progress. At the same time, I compete in other events, which overall helps my track team considerably.
When looking where I want to spend my college years I want to find a place that will offer a challenging and rewarding academic environment, while also having a track and field program that matches my ability and helps me perform to my greatest potential. I personally strive for success and work diligently to achieve a goal, which would definitely support your program. While training to compete, I have learned that with the correct technique and hard work, you can set new PRs, which essentially can be applied to life.
In my spare time, I work at a part-time job, volunteer, and spend time with family and friends. I look forward to going to college, receiving a well-rounded education, becoming the best track athlete I can be, as well as contributing to the school community and making new friends. I not only have the talent to compete at the college level, but my character, commitment, and leadership skills will greatly impact your program. As a well-rounded student-athlete, I know what it takes to be an impactful member of a sports team, one dedicated to track and field.
