One of my goals in college is to build my charter to further my education to help people. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always loved to help others. Through middle school and now high school, I have worked with the Special Olympics of New Jersey in and out of school. The organization has taught me lessons that I will use through my whole life and that I can apply in college. Through SONJ, I have completed my Silver and Gold award in Girl Scouts. Hopefully, I can be an inspiring candidate in the college selecting process by hearing a few words about who I am.
When starting track and field as a freshman in high school, I did now know what to expect. Fortunately, my team welcomed me with open arms and helped me be the best athlete I can be. Now that I am a Junior, my teammates, and coaches are able to turn to me if they need someone to fill a certain spot, to lead warmups, or to ask for help when they need it. The best thing about my season so far is being an inspiration for other lifters and throwers on my team. A freshman on my team who, like me when I was in her place, did not know what to expect. I had taken her under my wing and had taught her certain things in the shot put that I had learned over the years. Not too long ago she had mentioned how she wanted to be just like me when she is a Junior, which made my heart so full.
