Ann Kelly '12 Recruiting Profile

I'm an 18 year old, 5 foot 5, and 120 pound senior in high school.  I have been a varsity sprinter on my high school track team for the last two years and have used this speed to help my pole vaulting.  I also play tennis during the off season which helps my upper body strength and hand eye coordination.  After training all summer and winter of my junior year I was able to break my school record by half a foot and am the highest vaulter on my team by a foot and a half.  The same meet I broke the record I also placed 4th overall in my county and 2nd in my division.  The next meet I tied my height and placed 5th in my division at sectionals  
I can not only bring a pole vaulter to a college, I can bring the wealth of knowledge I have gained from being my team's unofficial pole vaulting coach for the last 2 years.  I was a captain of the sprinters last year, and will be a captain of the whole team this year.  I like to think that as many points I bring to the team with my vaulting I bring just as many by supporting my teammates.
I have no real preferences in setting of a school.  Some of the schools I have looked at and loved are rural and others are urban.  I would not like, however, to go to a very small school.  I prefer a medium to large school.  I do not have a strong opinion on religion because I am not very religious, but am open to a christian school.   My only true conviction is the distance from home.  I wouldn't like to travel more than 8 hours by car, but if I am given a good oportunity to vault I might be able to be convinced otherwise.  
I would like to major in Biology with a possible concentration in marine biology.  I am not certain whether or not I would like to follow in a Marine biology path or perhaps go to medical school.  Academics are very important to me as well as track.
Currently my goals are to reach above 10 and possibly to the 10'6 range.  I would like to be a contributing member of the team both athletically and for the support that my teammates need.  I would prefer to be able to start.  Being able to play in college is my major dream, and has been for a long time.
