For as long as I can remember, track and field has always been an important part of my life. Since I was 8 years old, I have been a member on multiple track teams, practicing several times per week and maintaining high grades in school. My goal is to attend a university or college where I have an opportunity to compete in a challenging environment both academically and athletically. I want to prepare myself for my future while following my passion for track. I believe I would be a good teammate because, I haven’t missed a practice in my high school career and have gone to every meet asked of me, no matter the distance or weather. I seek out meets that my school is not participating in as an opportunity to compete. As a team member, I bring positivity and leadership to meets and practices. I am always available to help coaches or teammates when needed. My quiet dedication to track and field makes me different from other athletes my age. During the freshman MVP awards ceremony my coach described me as “A hard worker, who goes quietly about drilling, sprinting, jumping, never drawing attention to herself, yet, allowing her performances to draw attention to her excellence”. While being a member of the academic honor roll and a member of the track and field team, I also have a passion for helping others through volunteering. I have worked with older adults, young children, and homeless pets. These experiences have allowed me to show my dedication, leadership, compassion, and hard work. As you build your team, I hope you will consider me for my jumping abilities, my academic strengths, and my desire to compete at the collegiate level.
