Becoming a part of the New York Cosmos Academy team was one of the highlights of my short career, mostly because of the nostalgia of playing for “Pele’s Team”. In addition, playing at the academy level awarded me the chance to play with other competitive players at all positions. Candidly, I enjoyed the regimen of practicing three to four days a week and competing against other academies particularly the MLS academies. My soccer story started when my dad introduced me to the beautiful game at the age of three. He placed a soccer ball at my happy feet. And since then, I – just - couldn’t – stop – kicking – the - ball. Chuckling, I really have a “joyous obsession” for the beautiful game. Playing on four different teams with wonderful coaches, particularly Coach Gary Book, I learned – when there’s “team work … the team works”. As such, I’m neither afraid of criticism nor failures – simply put as a competitor they both function as my motivation. Somewhat embarrassed, I’m often told that I have great game vision and keen tactical awareness particularly, during crucial points in the game. In short, when others panic … differently, I’m hyper focused. Lucky perhaps; I’m considered a two-footed player. This skill at times unfairly allows me the unique opportunity to attack the weaknesses of the defenses…all the while maintaining my defensive assignments. Humbly, I’m seeking a program that will allow me to contribute my all, and a University that can prepare me to make an academic dent in the universe. Pointedly, I’m eager to compete for a starting position and I’m driven to bring home a National Championship. However and most importantly, I continuously seek the character, the work ethic and the leadership skills that will make my family, the soccer program, the university and the alumni proud.
