My mother has has been the greatest influence in my life. She has taught me that believe in myself and never give up. She taught me that with hard work and sacrifice, any dream is possible. My mother has sacrificed a lot for my siblings and me. She worked long hours to take care of my brother, my sister and myself. Because of her, we are able to pursue our passions and focus on our goals. I will never lose sight of what it has cost her to give me this opportunity. My parents were the first to dream a better future for me, leaving it up to me to work for it. It is on me to do well enough to be accepted at a good school. Now, because of my athletic skill and my academic achievements the goal to attend college is within reach financially. This is the key to my future. I will be able to do whatever I want, and know this because I have already done what I set my mind to. With acceptance into college I could go even further toward realizing my dream. I am grateful and proud to have made it this far. What is truly important, what really matters to me, is what I will become. College is a step on that path, and perhaps the most vital of all of them. I don't know what waits for me at the end, or what I will become. I only know that it will be something better than my parents could have hoped for.
I have grown each year that I have participating in track and field. Each year I become very strong and made progress in each event that I enter. Each year I take on a new challenge and a new event. I feel that I will continue to improve at the college level each year. I am a team player and I work hard, willing to do what it takes to excel. I believe in lifting others and helping them to succeed.
