My name is Ada Jorschick and I come from a small town in Vermont. I am scheduled to graduate from Essex High School in 2025 and am currently enrolled in our STEM Academy. Before even considering track and field, I began with gymnastics at the age of 3 and continued this travel team until I was 14 years old. This was a year-round travel sport for me with a local gym named Regal Gymnastics. I Loved the sport and my teammates; we all shared a very strong bond. Along with gymnastics, I played other sports as well. It is very important to know that gymnastics practices were year round averaging 10 hours a week with a heavy travel schedule from January through May. My practice schedule allowed me to practice after school and then attend my gym practice in the evenings. I started basketball around the age of 8 and became very attached to this sport. I played coed lacrosse throughout middle school and switched over to girls but I didn’t find the same excitement as I did with my coed team. I also played soccer in my junior high years. Once I reached high school, I continued playing basketball as a freshman and sophomore and did travel gymnastics. After the winter season of my freshmen year, I felt the need to continue with a sport during the spring. I considered joining the track team so I thought why not try it out? Our first practice rolled around and I instantly found a strong connection to the sport for many reasons. One reason was the team itself. I value having caring and supportive teammates and by the middle of the season, we had all become like family. The next year rolled around and I had to make a tough decision to discontinue doing gymnastics. One of the reasons I decided to end my gymnastics career was so I could give track my full attention. It was the right choice as it has allowed me to concentrate more on the sports I love. I continue playing basketball in the winter season along with indoor track to stay in shape for outdoor track. I look forward to track to start every spring! My love for the sport and my team continues to grow and grow and I can’t wait to see what's in store next on this incredibly journey!
