Hi, my name is Jordan Henderson. I am a rising senior at Western Albemarle High School (Class 2025). I have been competing in track since my freshman year and I have been on varsity since 9th grade. Track has taught me many things including that hard work pays off, how to be a leader, and to stay positive through hardships. I am very passionate about my sport. My goal as an athlete is to keep working my hardest to become the best athlete and student I can be on the collegiate level. I run the 300h, 55h, 4x2, 4x4, 400, 300 and the 200. I am hoping to learn how to throw and jump this summer. I train in the summer with a track club (Like A Pro) which consists of college level workouts, speed and endurance training, plyometrics, strength training, technique refinement, and more. In addition to participating in track, I also ride horses, which has taught me patience, hard work, and responsibility. I also cross train by boxing and weight training. I have had a lot of improvement this past year and I would like to continue my athletic career at the collegiate level. I know I have the right mindset and potential to do great things in college on and off the track. I know that I have the skills and determination to balance my college coursework with participating in college athletics. I really enjoy being part of a team. Additionally, I like to help fellow teammates by sharing my experiences, lessons, and skills that I have learned in track and in life. I feel very fortunate to have amazing high school coaches and my LAP (Like a Pro) coach who have also been mentors to me. The lessons that they have taught me also have helped me in my personal life.
Throughout my track career, I have been on varsity for the past three years. I was appointed captain as a junior this year and awarded the Coach’s award for all of my hard work, dedication and leadership I have shown throughout the years. I have competed at States indoors(sophomore/junior year) and outdoor (junior year) and nationals indoors (sophomore and junior year). Sophomore states I competed in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 (4A). At nationals, I competed in the 4 x 200. This past indoor states, I was anchor on the school record breaking 4 x 200, ran on the 1st place 4 x 400, and I also ran the 55 hurdles (3A). At regionals, I broke my school record in the 300 hurdles and still have lots of room for improvement. I ran a 59.84 split anchoring the 4 x 400 at regionals. I’m willing to work hard and I am excited for the future. I am strong, motivated, I hold myself and teammates to a high standard, I’m always positive and always up for a challenge. Outside of track I love to be outside, spending time with family and friends, I love to work, ride horses, box, and volunteer at the SPCA.
